Burning for Japanese PS2

Ok, I have a Japanese PS2 and have been experimenting with backing up my games (both US and Japanese). What I do currently is use DVD Decryptor to create an .ISO file and Alcohol 120 to burn it. PS2 just pops up the Please Insert A Valid PS2 Disc sign. I have been under the impression that Japanese systems don't need chips to read burned discs, and I am (I think, at least) converting the American games to Region 2 through the setup menu in DVD Decryptor. Anyone have a link to a walkthrough for this specific type of copying method, or a suggestion as to what I'm doing wrong?

Thx in advance.

Oh, and I have tried GT3 (unpatched, figured that one out...) and GTA San Andreas, both American verions. Currently doing Japanese Rockman X7 just for testing purposes.
