Have you run a protection scanner over the exe to see if it's protected?
This looks like a niche/special interest type program so it might be copy protected judging by it's price on the homepage, $99.00  If you're trying to use a backup of the original CD then that maybe why it won't run! Try the original CD on someone elses machine, then if it doesn't work then, it may be a bad CD in which case take it back to the store or report the problem to the developer!
