Grand Theft Auto three PC backup -how to?

I have done some reading on these forums and downloaded utilities etc but I'm still a bit fuzzy as to how I go about backing up my GTAIII PC versiono playstation. I know it has safedisc v2 protection. Can I just use Nero V.6.0 to make a backup to cd (using cd copy)? What settings? Or will I need burning software that creates a bin file to patch it? Perhaps my pioneer 106D DVD burner can copy the disc without any other intervention?

This is the first time I've been back to these forums for many years. I used to come here a lot back in the days of playstation 1... I knew a lot more too but things have probably changed. It's good to be back. Thank any one who gives me a few helpful hints.
