modchip and hddloader

i am aware that hdd loader is illegal and so is the so call modchip. i currently own an xbox which i modified it myself with a hdd upgrade. anyway i am planning on buying a ps2 and i want to modified it also. so here are my questions.

1) a good modchip such as the DUO2 would be able to read the copy dvdr/cdrw. would it work if i copy the hddloader onto a dvdr or cdrw. i am not planning to make illegal copy of the hdd loader disc but i want to back up the hddlaoder in case something went wrong.
