Ripping, what if...

I know when you rip a game you can burn it as a self boot game... ive done it before. Is there an easier way to do it as a non self boot? I think that would be a reasonable price to pay. Maybe i have no idea what im talking about. Of course you can change cdi to bins with various programs, but then yuo need to burn it and make an image first right? The same goes with dummy files. Can you do either off the first burn of a rip?
