I would suspect a fuse that has something to do with power to dvd rom drive then.
This sort of problem has come up before and unfortunately the only way ahead is to strip ur ps2 down to the motherboard, get a diagram of the fuses mounted on it, get a continuity tester and go through them all until u find the duff one and replace it. Alternatively u can send it away for repair but this will cost U. Regards
