Question Can someone help a newbie

I just bought a used PS 2 and as soon as I bought it.... I realized that there is no way to buy all the games I want to play cuz there are sooo many good games. So I decided that I must get a mod-chip... but the problem is-- I know nothing about burning PS 2 games and nothing about mod chips.

I read this message board a few times and I have determined that I want to get a Magic 2 and I'm pretty sure I have a version 4 PS2 (it doesn't have the screws that's supposed to be on version 5's--I think.) Now the question is-- where can I get the cheapest Magic 2 Version 4 chip and get it installed (maybe someone can refer me to someone in the Buffalo, NY area)?

Also... I see a lot of talk about DVD and CD based PS2 games-- is there a list of games that are cd or dvd based, or could you only tell by looking at the actual disks (and what would you look for)? I don't have a DVD-RAM and I just don't have the money to make such a big investment to purchase a DVD burner, a PS 2, a mod chip plus installation all within such a short time. I need to know if there are enough cd based PS2 games to backup with my cd burner or if there are places that sells backed up DVD's.

I know this is a lot of questions for someone new in this message board but I know that you guys would have the expertise to help me. Thanks in advance.
