ps1 ntsc backups?

is there anyway of playing american ps1 backups on ps2 full screen without 5 inch of border at bottom of screen without altering the loading region to pal as can play ps2 backups fullscreen yet cant with american ps1 backups any help would be great as cant fix screen display am using ar2 disc 2 for ps1 booting of ntsc games thanks [email protected]
