Question?

hello all,
I'm using a v5 chip in my console...all my dvd-r backups work perfect...the issue is with cdr backups. I'm using TDK's...I make them with Clone XXL & Clone Cd 4...ok Sled Storm & Vitua Fighter 4 load & work fine...but for example the games Salt Lake 2002
& Artic Thunder will freeze within a few seconds of loading...I burn & read around 2x to 4x..I do use a cd burner thats supports the raw-doa 96 with clone cd....I'm using the same cd's as the first games i mentioned...I do get quite a few : fail to read sector ***** errors in the log screen of clone cd , but from what I under stand thats normal in most games due to that could be the copy protection area's of the original copying disc..also that wouldn't stop the game from working..yes i have the setting right in clone.
actually I've tried different settings too...does anyone have any other ideas ?????
P.S> for those of you who like to throw out smartass answers like buy the game, I'll save you the trouble I do own both of them!
anyone with legitimate suggestions I would greatly appreciate.
THX

If you can, try to get ahold of another original.... Sounds like your original may be scratched causing a bad read & burn....
I have had a couple of games do this and everytime I get another original to burn from, IT WORKS PERFECT.....

Hope this isn't too Smartass of an answer!!! LOL

THX BG,
no that was not a smartass answer....there's some real jerks out here who think there funny...appreciate it..I'm trying another burn
of the same game again this time i turned off the fast error correction...during the read there were no fail to read sectors so I'm going to see what happens with this burn...it would be too much of a coincidence that both games are unreadable due to scratches right at the beginning as soon as they load...I think it's something I'm doing wrong BG.....I'll send you a PM as soon as this burns done an let you know the outcome......thx

Thanks...... You have got me thinking now (and that's scary. LOL)
I need to check my clone cd and see if fast error is checked or not... Since I haven't run into any problems except for those two I mentioned I have never even looked at the settings.....
Anyway, let me know what you find......

Clone CD

That's the ticket Raptor--only use Suchannel reading on the reader tab. You may also want to check to make sure you don't have laser calibration checked on the writer settings either, Don't regenerate sectors either. I've seen some people have had trouble with these apparently as well.

I ditched the Ver.4.XX skins. Hated them--went back to ver. 2.8.3.1--It doesn't have a whole lot of options available, so I don't have to worry too much about which profile has which settings.

Oh, about the TDK's. I had some bad experiences with them going bad after a while. In a 50 disk spindle, I had 8 that wouldn't even be recognized by my CDRW--even after I updated the Firmware!!

That is another thing you may want to consider. Check the website of you drive manufacturer to see if they have an update to the firmware to support more media--might help with the misreads. My DVDROM had trouble reading some PSX Games, then I updated the firmware to resolve some problems with DVD movie playback, and it does better then my CDRW now!

Good Luck!
