High speed or low speed- help from pros needed
ive read many posts on this forum saying slower is better. i agree. but recently at another forum i was told that burning slowly puts more stress on the laser cause its on for longer, and fast burning is good cause the laser is on for short periods.
please show me the light and end my confusion

That's Bullsh**! First of all people with burners that pass beyond 16X need to realize that NOT everyone's machine is capable of reading hyper speed even if the media is capable of that burn speed.. Out of all the people I talked to from this forum and few others they all said and agree that you should burn slower..I admited that if you are making copy from Original to CDR then it's OK not great but if you're making Copy to Copy definitly NOT! The PS2 laser is more sensitive than PS1.. Although this one time it's strange but I heard(Don't quote me on this)that for PS2 Ver.1-3 you need to burn DVD rom to DVD-R on 2X because of what you mention above regarding to stressing it out but that only applies to Ver.1-3 due to older laser..I don't see why you would think that it should be burnt slower since it is a older laser..So there you have it..If you got one of the those Hyper speed burners from 20X to 48X burn slower even if it's from Original to CDR..I still got 2 Scsi Plextor 8X writers at home..From Day 1 not a single Coaster..Unless the program was bad..Never been the Drive's problem..

Sorry no can do! The 2 burners take turns on burning CDR's so that it gets less wear on laser's..Also I got them on Plextor Brand Ext kit to cool it down..Same with my A03 using Firewire Ext..Try looking at Ebay right now there are tons of Scsi Plex writers at dirt cheap price's..Or get Yamaha's..Either one is good..
