Boot Discs For PSOne what's up with them?

Maybe a question here I have a mod chip coming. But I've downloaded several PSone Boot discs and burned them I cannot get any to work, what's up with these do they work? I assume you boot from them first then place in the backup? Anone have any info?

you can not burn a boot disk and get it to work with out a mod chip. because it has sectors pressed onto the cd same as a psx game,and those sectors cant be writen by any burner, that is why you need a mod chip. but if you get a mod chip you can use the burnt bootdisk as a game shark to enter codes.

I have two boot disks, One that I bought psxchange. I can use this to boot my games. It was pressed not burned. I also have the import player that I use to defeat any copy protection and play pal games on my ntsc system. It keeps the screen from rolling.
