I recently heard a nasty rumor and I was wondering if anyone knew if it was true. I heard that if you burn a cd game on XP, even using Clone CD, that it will only play on the computer it was burned on.
Somehow, it puts a secret CD Serial number on there, like a key, and only the version of Windows XP that it was burned on will play it. If any other version of windows XP goes to use that burned CD game, it recongnizes the CD-R and checks for the key. If it does not match, it will not play the CD. One more note, The burn CD will work on previous versions of windows. (pre windows ME), just not on windows XP.... |
