USB Mod vs. INTERNAL mod

I'm looking to purchase a mod chip and want some information. I have to do the soldering myself because i don't trust anyone around here to do it (Canada). Obviously the choice for me would be the usb mod but i want to know the differences between the two. If i buy the usb mod will i be screwed for some backups? Any info. would help. I'd love to hear from people that have used both or have one or the other.

Thanks

So far i havent had any problems with either one. The neo key would probably be easier to install if you dont have much soldering experience. The only down side to the usb modchip is you have to patch MOST ea titles in order for them to boot. The neo 2.2 Requires a 8 wire install, pins 5 and 6 can be VERY hard for experienced installers and almost impossible for people with little experience. Both require a gameshark2, AR2, or region X to boot PS2 backups. If you have any doubts about doing the install yourself then get a profesional installer to do it. Better this than burning up the PS2.
