DVD Media

The HP 100i DVD+RW is supposed to only write to +RW media The Pioneer DVD burner (I don't know the model # off the top of my head) is supposed to be able to write to any media. The HP is 2.5 speed and the Pioneer is 1 Speed. The PS2 I heard would only work with the DVD-R disc's.

i HAVE uR aNSWER

Alright dude check it, I had the same questions myself alright and i have figured it out.

Their is two types of burners out their the kind for the - and of course for the + then too....

Only one media will be able to be burned for each burner unless their is a knew burner out their i don't know of. you need to buy the media for the burner you are using. so it is kinda like so a - burner has to have - cd and the + has to have the + cd's. follow?

Now their is only a slight diffrence the + is higher quality.

Now as far as reading from them after the burn goes should not matter what type it is that is realy only strcictly for the burning process. but you know how burned discs go some readers will read it some wont..

hope i was help now i need to know how to make backup copies of my stuff on dvd still messing with that.

DVD-R,DVD-RW,DVD+R and DVD+RW

Well the pioneer A04 does use any of the media types which is better than the HP which will only use the +RW media. Most DVD players if you use proffessional DVD authoring software to make a proffessional DVD will play a DVD+R but only as a DVD and not as a VCD or pics or MP3's if your DVD player plays MP3's. Buy the end of the year Pioneer is supposed to have a new DVD burner that not only works with all the different media but it is also a 4 speed burner wich is almost twice as fast as the HP 100i and the new HP 200i. So it all depends on what you want to do with the burner on wich one you should get. Just to inform all of you the MPAA is making it impossible to copy DVD's. all the newer DVD's main movie file will be over 4.7GB so you can't copy the movie without alot of work. And it won't play on normal DVD players without being made with DVD authoring software. So you would have to disassemble the movie convert it over to Mpeg-1 then lower the frame rate to be able to fit it on a 4.7GB disc then you will have to use DVD authoring software to turn your Mpeg-1 file into a DVD. And if you don't have a fast computer it takes forever.Just letting you know so you don't spend hundred's of $ and find out you can't do what you bought it for.
