Hi,

I have found that certain crap media is louder then using a Verbatim datalife plus CDR.

The batman RIP that come out a while ago was so loud that i only played it once.

But your right backups are a little louder then an original.

I also noticed the same thing. Verbatims also make a lot of
noise. My DVD rip of GTA3 is the WORST, constant noise, I
don't dare play it!!! It seems to depend on the game itself
and how much it accesses the drive but games like GTA3 are
freaking ridiculous!! That has got to be hard on the laser!!

Also BLUE originals are pretty loud, Crash Wrath of Cortex
had me thinking my PS2 was messed up.

PS2 DVD games are much quieter. I donno about DVD-R's

I got bigger problems than noisy backups, my NEO Key kept
getting worse and worse, not booting CD's. Last time I
tried 45 friggin' minutes and I can't get a backup to
boot, not even a PS1!!

I think I need to replace my capacitor. Anyone know
about the "clicking" you are supposed to get if you don't
have a cap? When a backup fails, it always clicks -
even without the NEO key cuz I tried just to see if it
sounds different. I also tried to add the resistor, that
didn't work at all! When a backup fails it sounds the same
to me with or without a cap, or NEO Mod at all.

The noise I get is the CD spinning very fast. I'm presuming the laser can't keep up with the CD, but if you gently tap the PS on top a couple of times it chills out a bit.

have noticed some media has a rougher outer edge than others usually over run of resin during manufacture
these seem to be noisey if you then turn ps2 upright it stops the noise

the Gta3 rip is nasty.sometimes when you drive into a town in one of the faster cars there's no buildings or people, the ps2 cant load them fast enough.if youv ever played crazy taxi on the DC without adding a dummy file its alot like that.
