can i back up my dvd movies

im looking at getting a burner to back up my movies, but from what ive heard they put copyright protection on the drives so that this can not be done.

is this just a load of b.s. or am i buggered?

No way dude! Grab yourself a dvd writer such as the Pioneer A03. Then go grab Smartripper (or similar) from www.shareware.com. This software will decrypt your dvd movie to hard drive taking out anything that is making life difficult for you. If you get stuck just come back here and shout for help or just email me.
