Unhappy Messiah Boot Problems Pls help

Hi I am new to these forums but not new to PSX/PS2 'backups'

The problem I have is with a SCPH30003 with Messiah chip.

I got my sons and my own PS2 chipped with Messiah and all was well for a while ... boots up everything without need of boot disk and swap tricks.

My PS2 now seems to be stuck in a certain mode it will boot up copied DVDrs and original DVDs and original normal games.. It will not boot up on Memory Manager, Xtreme FM and any CDRs ......
I can take a CDR and boot up on my sons machine then put it in mine and it says cannot read disc. ?

I have tried the double button hit and the holding down for three seconds at start to reset chip but nothing works ......

Pleas help as after shelliing out for the PS2s and the hassle I had getting the Messiah chips fitted (reputable bloke) this is the last thing I need.

Thanks in advance

P

The problem could lie in the chipping of your PS2 or the laser configuration in your PS2.

Problems can arise with the fitting of the chip as there are loads of wires to solder and the points are difficult to solder to.

Best thing to do is get your laser in the PS2 re-aligned, if that is the problem this will solve it, if not you will know it is in the chipping, then the best thing to do is get your chipper to look over it and check everything is OK.

What version PS2 are you using?

I agree with Simon, except i'd do it the other way round and have the soldering on the chip checked first.
How long have the chips been fitted?
Most installers give some sort of warranties on there work.
Is this the case with regard to yourself?
Whatever it is it should be repairable so try not to get too stressed out because consoles and pc's etc can soon do that!!!

Thanx guys for your response .... It just seems weird that one minute it works and then Im messing about trying to boot from home DVDs (bought a pioneer A03) and then all it plays are DVD copys and originals.... but even stranger that it boots up on SSX (not tricky) original. So It boots up on copied MGS2 and DevilMC and SSX and normal DVD movies and ripped DVD movies but not one ripped CDR ?
As regards warranty it took from November to recently to get them done from Ch****l T***** therfore I dont know what sort of response Im going to get ?
I bought my sons for Xmas and he got it in Feb (not bad) I know they went through a lot of C**P , but I really can be bothered with sending them down there again.

Browser 1.20
CD Player 1.20
Driver 1.10
DVD Player 1.30E

I dont know but its like its not doing a hardware reset ?

Thanks agin

I don't suspect the install because it works with DVD-Rs.

The key point lies in the difference between your PS2 and your son'e PS2, where the CD-Rs work.

So it's likely to be the laser. You can go through the hassle of re-calibrating it and still not being sure of what you are doing or making things work; or you can buy a new laser £49.99 thinkprice or kanection, and whack that in.

But have you tried cleaning the lens first with a cleaning CD?
