Am I completely missing something here ?

I have just got hold of an AR2V2 cart to run with my offical Sony 8Mb mem card to run my backups as the Mega Memory solution I had was giving me trouble with saving games being un-recognisable with some of the newer games.
My AR2V2 boots up every one of my backups except one game, Robot Wars !!! It worked with my Mega Memory memory card installed, so why doesnt it work with the AR2V2/Sony8Mb solution ? Any ideas ?
Robot Wars is a CD Cloned game from the origional CD master.
My system is a SCPH30003 with Neo2.2 installed.
