Using The Sims Living It Up Exp. Pack with a Copy of The Sims

I have a copied CD of The Sims which I use instead of the CD that came with the game. I was wondering if it is possible, if I bought The Sims: Livin It Up (maybe a different name in another country) Expansion Pack, to use this with the copied CD Installation, or would I need to get a modification patch in order for the Exp. Pack to work with the copied install of The Sims. I am in the UK and am using a copy of the UK version of The Sims, installed from the copy CD. Thanks.
