How do I make a copy of Midtown Madness 2?
Usually when I want to copy a game I just copy all the files from the D: drive to a folder on my desktop then I get a no cd patch and put it in with it , finally I copy the lot of it to a blank CD.
I have tried this with Midtown Madness 2 but it dosent work.It stops copying it about half way through it and im left with a no good half written cd ![]() Does anyone have any ideas on how to copy it? Thank you! |

MrPussy,
Look, the best way to do it is to make a 1:1 copy using Clone CD (if you have compatible hardware) Copying to HD then burning onto a CD doesn't always work, as you have found out. That's because sometimes in the install routine it #####s to see if that .EXE you replaced is genuine or not. What type of reader & burner have you got? |

My cd writer/burner is a HP(Hewlit Packard) cd writer 8200 series.
By 1:1 do you mean from the original cd to the blank 1? Ive used clone CD before but I dont really know how to use it properly. What settings should I have on for it to copy Midtown Madness properly? Thanx for replying

I recommend using the latest official version, 2.8.5.2. I would avoid using any beta version of Clone CD (ie, 3.0.x)
I'm nearly 100% sure your drive is compatible with Clone CD. When you load CCD, click on the 1st icon on the left (read to image) The best settings to use for MM2 (or any game protected by Safedisc) is to have fast error skip on. Next hit the icon on the bottom (Start Disc Read). It will seem to take forever the first 3 or 4% of the read, because this is where the Safedisc errors are. Usually around sectors 800(+/-) through 10,000(+/-) It will speed up dramatically once it gets past the first couple of percent on the read. When it gets finished reading it, next you will want to write the image (2nd icon from left)....the only option to ##### (if it isn't defaulted) is Always Close Last Session. Now make sure write mode is set to RAW-DAO. Begin recording! Some people will tell you to read and write at lower speeds than your burner is capable of. Personally, I always read and write at max speed and never have had a problem. I'm using 2 different burners (Sony CRX 160 + Philips 804K) from what you have though, so you may have to. I may have left out some info that you may need, due to trying to recall this from memory. If you have any more questions, email me, or post again here, or try the CloneCD Underground forum @ www . elaboratebytes.com/eb/ There is lots of Clone information available there. Just click on the "Discussion Forums" button on the the top left when you get there. :-) "BiG SWoLL" |

If your hardware doesn't support clone cd then you'll have to use the patch,i presume its a no cd exe file, the only way i got it to work was do what you said about putting all the files in temp folder but then put a new folder containing the patch in there as well.
Then burn all to a blank cd. The game should install as usual and then just copy and paste the no cd exe from the folder on the cd to the game DIR and voila it will work with out asking for the cd. |
