HP 8230 External USB Trying to Backup Red Alert 2 is it possible?

If it is possible could you tell me which software to use and maybe the setting I would need thanks. I'm sorry to bother you with this but it gets very fustrating. I've been told that this writer can't do it and I was also told that it could. I spoke to someone and they said they made a backup of Red Alert 2 but they never told me what software they used or settings.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

if you want to do a perfect copy i.e no software running in the background while your playing the game, then the answer is NO. Sorry for the bad news.
