game copies hang up

i have a couple of games (quake 2 and coolboarders 2001) that start to run and then just stop. quake2 gets to the new, load game screen and then stops and coolboarder gets to the pal/ntsc selector screen and stops there. i get to choose an option then the screen goes blank and the cd stops spinning and there it sits. i dont have a mod chip, but i use ps-x-change boot cd for ps1.
thank you for any help you can give me.

Sound like a bad burn or faulty patch, it doesn't sound like mod-detection but just in case, after booting your exchange cd, press select and bring up the game shark feature and try entering the enable codes.

Cool Boarders 2001:

D00B11CC 023A
800B11CE 1000 OR

D00B1144 000A
800B1146 1000

Quake 2 is not protected.

ok so it could be a bad burn....

Do you have a friend with a PSX which is internaly moded? if so then see if they boot in there.

I dont know a great deal about the PSX-X-Change CD but i think that might be the cause of your problems!

I'd recommend that you get an internal mod chip installed and work from there.
