how to back up Breath of Fire IV?

Seems a straight disc-to-disc copy back-up doesn't work, like it does for Parasite Eve II or Silent Hill. BoF IV is on PSXCopy World's list of protected games, so I guess the question is how to get around this protection so I may have a legal back-up copy of this fine game?

I've also tried patching the PPF file into the BIN, but it claims that they don't match, so I dunno what else to try.
