General backup issues (Breath of Fire IV) Please read this...

Yes, I know there have been tons of posts regarding this topic, but none state the correct issue!
I have successfully made a BIN/ISO of this game (I rented the NTSC from Blockbuster) but the only patch availiable (from www.paradogs.com) Seems to use a different BIN for its protection fix.
The game copies fine (disc-to-disc) but when I try to play it in my PSX (using a Goldfinger) it refuses to load. It spins backwards and forwards (the typical of anti-mod copy protection) and just stays on the black screen.
I don't know what patch I am supposed to use, but CDRWIN isn't compatible with my burner anyway, so I try to use EZCD Pro 95 as much as possible.

If there is ANYONE out there who knows ANYTHING about this problem, please post for me. I have a standard backup of the game with me still (if anyone needs it to see my problem, email me).
