PS2 Nero2 <--Plz help me!

Hello, I need some info about this nero2. My buddy has one, and it works great. I mean I want one so bad, cuz i buy to many f'ing games. But from what i've been hearing is that Sony is going to release games that will detect the chip, even after beiing burnt, and then the games wont work? Is this true? Or is this a bunch of bs? Please let me know, I have to get a chip soon..>!!!
$50 is just to much man!
