In search of the ultimate CD-R

I've used quite a few different CD-R's and I still haven't found one that works 100% perfect (I'd settle for 90%). I have an externat mod chip and my PSX is about 3 years old so that might be the problem, so I'd like to know (mainly by dudes with an external mod chip) what is the absolute best CD-R to burn PSX with? I've tried >>>>>>

Memorex - Crap! Didn't work at all.
Kodak Gold Ultima - Works pretty good, but the audio sucks.
Sony - Sometimes the games would freeze or they wouldn't load up at all, the audio was good though.
TDK Data 80 min - The game would freeze a lot.
Verbatim Data Life Plus 80 min - The game would sometimes not load and it would freeze.

Please don't tell me I'm using the wrong programs or my writer is probably crap. I have CDRWIN and I burn at 1x, and I have a HP CD-Writer 9100.
Also my PSX is in great shape and runs great with regular PSX games, never freezes never any problems. It has to be the CD-R's, right?

hi.u know that new games come with new codes so even if u have the chip it wont work, cause the game has an anti mod chip protection. So first of all,if u'r gonna burn a game, pls check out if its protected on www.gamecopyworld.com the most games aren't protected.
when it comes to CD's use TDK 74 or 80 min CD-R (not CD-RW,it will never work),because TDK CD-R's are as same as the original PSX-game CD's.I should explain it to u why,but my english isnt that good.It has something with laser to do and the depth of the CD-ROM reflection.
All my games work...I have about 30 games, not all are by TDK,but other CD-R work too.

Hi there. If you check out 121CDR.CO.UK they have a whole selection of cdr's. Verbatim are the best because they have a dark dye type on the writing surface. They are quite cheap on the site as well. I myself use Nugen. They're cheap @ 27p each but are excellent. i have over 70 games and all have had no problems on the psone. If you need anymore info let me know on RYANS23**********COM.

hope it helps

I believe Mitsubishi 74 min CD-R's are the best. Put it this way I have 200 games:
70-Mitsubishi - never crash
30-Verbatim - sometimes crash
25-Kodak gold - sometimes crash not as often as verbatim
50-GoTech - Good hardly ever crash and very cheap
15-TDK - they crash all the time
10-Basf - Good but still crash
I have an external mod chip.
Also don't bother with cdr-win I have about 20 games that I had to recopy because cdr-win corrupted them making the games unreliable. Movies jump, sound corrupts, Games crash often.
Clonecd is what I use now and all my games work fine. Except for the odd crash.
Hope this helped you.
Cheers
