Please help, PSX2 CDs load slow....

I ordered a modified neo###. I followed instructions on adjusting the laser to 600 ohms since I used Verbatim media, no luck getting backups to work. Now all non-DVD CDs load slow, making a load humming sound like the laser is trying to scan. The games still work, just with lengthy load times through each screen. I adjusted back to the original 977 ohms, it didn't fix the problem. Is my CD laser screwed?? Thanks for any help.

I dont think that your laser is screwed at all!

I have only come across this once before and that was with an old SCHP-100x (the original PSX, not PS2) and i found that laser tweaking solved some of the porblem, but not all!

In my honest opinion it sounds like resonance of some sort, possibly caused by a dodgy moulded case which becomes more apparent after it has been pulled apart and modified. (this is a complete and wild guess!)

It may be worth while making sure that everything is seated correctly and ALL the screws are done up tight! (sounds daft, but then again so is resonance!).

EZ CD
Try #####ing the Connection(internal) maybe that could be it also?!
While back I modded a PSX2 Version 4(Bitch to Mod)For some reason it loads CD's but not DVD's..
Also when I load CD's it only past to certain parts where DVD doesn't bother loading at all..
So it could be internal Cable problem or totally something else..Also I heard Neo### Causes problems to some PSX2's..Where NeoMod Doesn't..
Strange!!

Thanks for the help, I got my PS2 working again by moving the CD pot slightly clockwise (about 760 ohms). Very fortunate, considering I almost had to buy another PS2 today and use this one for parts. As for the modchip, I ordered a USB neo### and was sent a modified version of it with a metal switch. I don't think it worked at all so I unplugged it and will gladly wait until a proven chip or 100% external mod is out.

Warlock is on a distinguished road
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a neo ###. I still prefer the internal modchip but the release of the universal ea patcher gave this usb modchip a big boost as far as being able to boot games correctly.
