Daemon Tools hijacked my firefox browser...

Daemon tools hijacked my firefox browser- attempted to got to some ook.dedo.net site...
be careful of daemon tools, guys. I don't know what the deal is since daemon tools has been on a machine of mine for years- but lately I've been running two firewalls.. and catching alot more stuff trying to sneak out thru my network to some creep site online...
be careful people!
I had Zone Alarm and Sygate Personal Firewall running- Sygate caught it..

First wrong forum.
Second it isn't Daemon Tools, it has to be something else (maybe you just installed whenu but then you are responsible, not Daemon Tools).

(Wrong forum, moved.)

Daemon Tools may be displaying advertisements but surely not in such an ugly way. Have you read its manual, asked about it on the official support forum, contacted its authors?

When you install it asks if you want to install one of those toolbars... If you ain't careful it will probably pass with it and install it. Could be that one?

yup, i'd hazard a guess that noirelion blindly clicked install buttons
without actually reading the part about the toolbar..
the daemon tools 'usage' of the whenu toolbar is widely documented
on the net, incl. their home site as well as in the eula i believe..

it can also be easily uninstalled (add/remove programs)...

---I did not have the tool bar installed. I've used Daemon tools a few years..and I only made the post because I had never had any problems be4. i used to trust it- but now I am very careful with firewall permissions for it.

the toolbar is the only possible thing from daemon tools that can do that
go to add/remove, do u see a 'when u toolbar' or anything similar?
if you do then you did install the toolbar from daemon tools...
i've used daemon tools for a few years too... i really do think you accidentally installed the toolbar and/or got a trojan or something from some other place.. daemon tools is quite safe (the installer gives you the choice to install the toolbar or not, so its definately not to blame)...unless you downloaded it from somewhere other than their site/link and might have gotten a trojan or something from that...

Removing DaemonTools search bar from Firefox and IE

Hello!

To remove from FireFox, just start it in "safe mode" (option available in Windows menu "Start" > Programs > Mozilla etc.), and check to reset all except bookmarks.
In IE7, just select another default search provider and delete daemontool's one.

Enjoy!
