Sega Sports DC

My friend just got a DC that has Sega Sports on a black casing. The manufacturer date is July 2000. We tried playing back ups, but it keeps reseting. The only thing we've got to work is the NESter emulator. Some of the games load, but then it seems like they reset and then then screen turns black. Is this one of the DC's that won't work well with back ups. These back ups work fine with my DC.

I don't think the player is "copy protected". If you know anyone else with a mid-2000 Dreamcast, try the backups on their machine. Chances are they won't play on theirs either. If that's the case, the backups are probably bad burns. Check them in your computer CDROM drive. If you don't see files on the disc, such as if it shows up as a blank disc with 648mb of free space, they are bad burns.

The fact that Nester works indicates that it probably should work with backups (in my opinion).

Agreed, all DC systems prior to October 2000 can play self-boot games.
