DvD Backup/edit question

hello,

i would like to make a copy of some Bible based dvds with certain scenes cut out that are not Biblically accurate and/or appropriate.

i realize that the legality of making personal backups is not fully solved, it seems that if protection isnt bypassed then its okay

but what about the part about taking scenes out i dont wish to see?

and how would i do that if its legal?

okay thank you - jason

You can use the tool "DVD2DVD-R" for backing up DVDs. With this tool, you can check/uncheck each chapter of the movie.
(I think there are some other tools out, where you can also choos which chapter you want and which not.)

thank you for your reply and trying to help, it seems it might not be legal to do it this way so if it isnt then i wont.

it seems that the legal way to do it is to use a software program to automatically skip sections and stuff i think similiar to how cleanplay works, however cleanplay doesnt work for my situatuion, first id want it to be a software on my computer not on a dvd player, and secondly id want to make my own filters instead of using theirs, and more so then that probably is that they dont have filters for the main movies i want this for.

thank you for trying to help - jason

Personally I wouldn't bother.
As far as I am concerned there is nothing of any real fact in the bible anyway.

@Sidney
You should never criticize another persons religous beliefs!!
Many wars have been fought (and are being fought) over differences in religions. Religion can be a very strange thing? I really dont understand why different people believe in different gods etc? I myself am not a religous person but I will never knock anyone for believing in theirs.
Many people believe in different religions or have different beliefs and that is their right.
I remember once when I posted a joke here, which you found offensive (and only you I might add), but many more people will find your comments, about the bible, more offensive than my joke!
I dont know if you have ever heard what happened when John Lennin said "we (the Beatles) are bigger than the Jesus"? It caused a massive uproar!

I agree. When it comes to race or religion i suggest everyone keep their opinion to themselves. He asked for help with his problem, If you have nothing positive to add then dont reply at all!

Look Sidney, We're not going to argue about this! This is a DVD backup forum. Comments against Race or Religion dont belong here and wont be tollerated! He has a right to his beliefs same as you do.
Again, He asked for help with his problem, If you have nothing positive to add then dont reply at all!

Censoring the bible? What has this world come to?

It's partly a work of fiction, and partly edited history. If people have to edit the bible, then they should just pack up your home schooled flock, and move to Waco, Texas.

Dont get me wrong. If you just want to edit certain scenes together on one dvd, then DVD Shrink can do it. Just save out the scenes you want, and name then. Then hit the re-author button and add the vob's you saved back in the order you want them to play in. You can also select clips by time rather than by chapter if you want. This can make it easier to get clips that are smaller and larger than a chapter.

The only problem Ive had doing this is that sometimes the clip end 1/2 a sec sooner than I had cut it. But this might be a problem with it cueing the next scene too fast, or a problem with my dvd player. Try it out and ask if you have any more question.

About the editing, 'JBirdAngel' may only want to edit it to take out some scenes that are not 'appropriate' for young children?
I know I have edited some movies, to take out the more violent scenes, so that they are then suitable for my kids to watch.
I know the bible (and its story) should maybe not be edited and if you are teaching your kids the bible etc, some would say that they should be taught it all, but yes some things are not really suitable for the younger kids.
They can be taught these things as they get older and can understand it better.
Thats just my thoughts.
