Can I play VCD's on PS2?

Well can I ???

There seems to be patches and engines and stuff on the web but I'm a bit simple and thought engines went in cars.

Could someone please explain in simpleton terms if there is any way I can play VCD's or MPG's on my English non-chipped PS2.
