I was wondering if my search for and work with StarForce breakers was over when I read this thread. It turns out it was a pipe dream. I still require my original DVD to play Worms 4: Mayhem, which was the reason I took up the squabble with them in the first place. It's ironic, really. My Worms 3D, Worms World Party and Worms Armageddon CD's lay in their archaic jewel cases (not so much worms 3D, it has a decent case), while I constantly need to pull out the Worms 4 DVD to play it.

Where did Codemasters go wrong? Jesus guys, lay off the unbreakable protection...I'll still buy em. And make another 2D Worms, please.

I couldn't pass the protection. I already tried every mentioned step to kill SFC protection but in suffering it says "use another drive" and in GT legends that this is not original or something like that.

However, the problem is on nightmare 1.12. With unpluging power cables it works, i tried it. but what if i don't want to leave my computer like a wrecked car just for playing with my back-up cd???

My problem is with SF nightmare 1.12. i am disabling cd's, node and then pri-slave, sec-master, sec-slave but can not pass the protection.

my ide combination is:

Pri master: 80 gb seagate HD
Pri slave: LG CD/DVD-Rom
Sec master: LG CD-RW
Sec slave: Philips CD/DVD-RW

Is there any solution or advice? I would be appreciated...

No, there is no other solution currently available. For GT Legends, you have to follow every step (!) of the instructions, otherwise it won't work; I tested it!

@rocky 841
I notice you are from Australia. Now I dont know if this is the case in all countries but in Australia if you go to your local computer shop and ask for the Microsoft Sp2 Disc they will give it to you, on CD, for free!!

Well, in Germany nobody would do that ! They would just have a short look at you and think you're crazy...they would maybe tell you to download it yourself, but handing you out a CD would let them waste their money. They cant do THAT !

The shops here will give you a proper Microsoft released CD of Sp2, I dont mean the shop will burn Sp2 to a CD for you.

I guess, in most countries, giving away free Windows XP SP2 CD's costs Micro$oft much less than dealing with the oceans of righteous pre-SP2-related problem reports from legal customers!

Some of my friends buy Boxed Original DVD-games (Starforce protected as
GT Legends and Worms 4 Mayhem). 1st on WinXP SP1 were absolutely NOT
RUNNING! When we took the data-cables on MASTER also the checks were
failed! OK I Updated WinXP to SP2 and took the LG DVD/writer to PRIMARY
SLAVE all the games were worked fine... I guess the StarForce protection
ALL THE USERS (buyed the original or simple uses a "black" downloaded one)
WERE ANGRY and I understand why releases bad version of DVD-protection!
It's very shame for all the software-houses who pay ANY PENNY/RUBEL for
this s**tty protection. You payed 40-50 EURO/game and you CANNOT play
becouse this s**tty things becomes... Many users not the high to handle
problems like this, MUCH only use things like put the original DVD to the
drive, start Autorun, install and play.... (sorry for my bad english...)

Hello Folks,

I'm new here so please be gentle

Maybe a little late or already mentioned, but I came across a question on the official starforce-forum, where a guy asked how he could install an SF protected game (X3: reunion) from his usb cd-drive after one of his internal drives broke and he bought an external one..

At first the board mod didn't answer and demanded the reason why someone would want to install from a usb device (duh), while another visitor pointed him to the fact that the guy's internal drive was broken..
After some hesitation the board mod replied with simply: disable the IDE controller in the motherboard BIOS would allow installations from media other than one connected to the IDE controller..
In addition another user had some critisicm how simply SF can be bypassed then to force its way what it wants to do, and commented that this would also allow installations from virtual drives..

the SF board mod hasn't replied since

So my guess is that if you have SATA drives and only a CD/RW connected to one of the IDE controllers, you should be able to run any SF protected game with only a minimod and SFcure, and without the need to disconnect your cables

Cheers, R
