Could be a kind of anti-sice protection. try another game see if it does the same, if so you may have set the wrong kind of mouse.

There is no demo.

Sice is a retail debugger, and very expensive.

Against the rules to ask for files.

But check your SICE.dat file, should be in your windows\system32\drivers folder, open it with notepad.

If you have an AMD CPU turn off the pentium mode at the top.

Change your memory size, screen size etc here also. Save and restart the PC if you have Sice resident in the memory running.

I'm sorry, I thought it was against the rules only to ask for illegal files and not for all king of files.

Service Pack 2 for XP is total garbage anyway, but I digress.

Did you actually configure softice after install, or did you click next all the way through it? You have to load the exports, and (I guess depending on the OS and service pack) often the symbol files too. I used to have the SP1 symbols but lost them a while back, so I can't help there.

How is softice set to boot? There's 5 options: Boot, System, Automatic, Manual and then disabled. Which one is yours set to? Automatic has always seemed to work fine for me (when the others wouldn't) and I'm using XP and SP1 now with it installed and working.

It doesn't always seem to break though. Doing bpx on messageboxa doesn't seem to have any result, no matter which program calls that function, so I don't know. GetWindowTextA and CreateFileA work, but I don't think MessageBoxA does, and I kind of think the symbol files are why.

Before, you could use the symbol retriever, download the files from microsoft's site and then convert them to NMS to be loaded into softice. Unfortunately, the URL for the symbols doesn't seem to work anymore.

Dont listen to him about Auto mode, if you do this, you will never be able to play most of your original games since they check for Sice.
