Problem with Final Fantasy 8, disk 2, attacking Galbadia garden.

I've got a problem on my sisters laptop, as my pc is too powerful. It's the part on disc 2, when Nida the driver gives Squall the binocluars to look to see Galbadia Garden. The cd whizzes up, but then the game just crashes before the screen goes black with a box saying 'a serious error has occured and ff8.exe needs to close' I have v1.2 patch instaled on my sis laptop:

Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Pentium Celeron 1.4ghz
256 ram
24x dvd/cd drive
Up to 64mb Intel Graphics

I have tried nearly every idea, changin configuration, with and without patch, compatibility mode, even removing level 1 and 2 triple triad cards (dont ask why, I'm just an idiot.) I haven't tried a CD crack because:

A. I can't find one
B. I would need idiot style advice on what exactly to do

If however you are an expert at giving idiot advice (you may be but not no it!) please email me upside_down_carrot**********com

Thanks in advance

Morby

I found the crack and now works fine. Cheers everyone

You can try to copy all the files and folder from CD2 to a Temp-Folder on your harddisc.
Just to see, if all files are readable, or if your CD2 is damaged.

Yep sounds like a scratch on the CD.

Btw

You can copy the contents of the cd to HD then burn back to disc aslong as you name the CD correctly like the original.

Might help.

Was making exact copy, got up to 73% then failed due to slight scatch. Copying to HDD then back to cd to see if it works, with and without patch! Will edit this post once completed
