HELP! I don't know what to do with these files from my new camcorder.

I bought this new Sony camcorder that records to a mini DVD-RW disc and I cannot figure out how to save what I recorded to my computer or to video edit the files that it records. Whenever I try to copy and paste the files from the mini disc to a folder on my PC and then try to play the files Windows XP gives me a message that the drive is not ready. The files play on the PC and home video player just fine as long as they are played from the mini disc but not from my harddrive. Help please......

I've also tried numerous video editing programs such as Nerovision express, Sony's screenblast, and Ulead DVD movie factory3 but none can recognize the file type.

Heres a picture of the files of my home video posted below that I'm refering to.

Any suggestions on backing them up? I can play the files with Nero show time or Windows media player after they are finalized but editing or even backing the disc's up onto a harddrive is a different story. I leave for Disneyworld tommorow and I will have a few home video clips I'll want to backup to my laptop while down there so I can reuse my mini DVD-RW disc's over and over. As I said before simply copying from the disc and pasting the finalized files to the harddrive does not work, I get drive not ready when trying to open the file when its placed on my harddrive.
