OT: Swat 4 issue

I know there have been swat 4 issues on different threads and I have read all of them, however none cover the issue of which I am experiencing. (Except for one but the guy was banned and the thread was closed) I bought swat 4 the other day and applied the RELOADED fixed cd patch. When I go to play them game it loads up fine, but when it goes to black screen you can hear what should be the publisher/developer logo theme, but see nothing and then it freezes. I Can't ctrl+alt+del, and have to hard boot. Anyone else experiencing this or is it just me? Thanks in advance...

right m8. i had the same problem. if you have mcafee firwall active, it will be in the background, and u cant see it. even ctrl+alt+del doesnt work.

I had to do a hard reset then just disable your mcafee firewall, and then it should be ok

I actually have Norton Internet Security 2005, but I will try what you said tonight and see if it works. But I'm still confused as to why a firewall would conflict with a game when you aren't even connected to the internet...And do you really have to disable yours EVERY time you want to play? Thanks again.

Something I don't understand with VU. Although the game is fully listed under their website, the "Support" tab cannot be selected. I mean, how cannot it be selected? They provide support selectively for some games?

EDIT: I got indirectly to their support pages, through the Sierra website. Hope it helps:

It's because the first time the game loads it tests and sees if you're connected and when that happens, your software firewall has to ask you questions about settings up a rule.

Whenever I install a new game, before I play it, I always assign the game's .exe file firewall permissions. Before I started doing that, I had all sorts of problems like this.

Ok, Thanks guys. Yeah, I got it working by disabling the firewall. I seriously hope that VU releases a massive patch for this game pretty quickly, as I have been on the swat 4 forums and everyone is complaining about how many bugs and errors there are with this game. But somehow I doubt that that will happen anytime soon...

Whilst there are a few bugs its not nearly that bad IMO. The worst i have experienced so far are graphical textures splitting (meaning when standing near a door wondering if anyone is on the other side there gun may be visable through the door taking away the tension, This dosent always happen though. As for the Forums yes there are lots of ppl bitching but dose this not happen with all games no matter how good ? Take HL2 same thing. I agree theres room 4 improvement but its in a better state (bug wise) than many other new releases.

swat likes to crash

every time i load swat 4 without shutting down zone alarm, avg and spy bot i get the following error message below, when i do shut all three down and run the game, i can only enter the traing and first two missions in career mode before i encounter this error. I have deleted the .ini file as instructed and im currently running the game using the SWAT 4 v1.0 [ENGLISH] Fixed EXE from reloaded.

im running: amd 2500+ Barton, 512ddr 400 3200 dual channel ram, windows xp sp2 updated, nvidia geforece 3 ti 200 128mb (Version: 71.89 Release Date: April 14, 2005 WHQL Certified)

I have no idea how to get this game to run properly, any help?

How to configure NIS 2005 firewall with Swat4

Hi,
I too had the Black screen problem, All i did in the end (After being told about all kinds of possible problems it wasn't , Like not enough memory or Direct X having to be re-installed), i told my Norton Internet Security (2005) firewall to allow the Swat4 exe file to dial out (On the main window in NIS2005, left click on personal firewall, and the the silver configure button, then the second tab (programs) and select the swat 4 executable and allow always.

This will enable you to run your Norton firewall and Swat 4 together!

Hope it works 4 U!!!

You can do it like that however i to have swat 4 installed alongside norton's virus/internet security and if you dont want it to connect to internet each and every time you run the game choose block always (as i have) and i run the single player campaign no probs. (obviously when i want to go online with swat4 i will have to allow it to connect . I wont do this until i have compleated the S/P missions though as i like to be able to hold my own online and not look like an ass
