Does the cd-rw mod for the gd-rom damage the laser?

Hey again,

Just confirming a rumour the cd-rw's damage the laser when you adjust the pot. on the gd-rom unit. is it true?

If you do it right, it doesn't damage it, but now the laser has to work twice as hard because your too cheap to use CD-Rs instead of CD-RWs and the end result is a very shortened life for your DC's GD-ROM laser.

Hmmm, $55 for a new GD-ROM laser or $17 for a 50-pak of CD-Rs..... you do the math.
