I am very new to backing up my dvd's, but when I go to backup things, everything seems to work great. When I go to view them, there is always an area or two that the dvd stutters/skips or gets pixelated.
I have a sony DRU-710A. I have been using Imation DVD -R media. I have left the default settings in both CloneDVD and AnyDVD. Is this sort of thing normal? Is there anything you guys would recommend to help this situation out? Thanks in advance for the help. |

I have used 3 different stand alone dvd players with similar results. I have some ritek ridata on the way. I have a p4 2.8 ghz /512 MB ram and not doing anything else on the computer while burning. I think the default speed on clonedvd is "Maxspeed" Should I be using something else? If anyone has recommendations of any sort, please let me know.

I have updated my firmware on the Sony DRU-710A. I placed the new Ritek Ridata 8X media in the drive. I used CloneDVD to write existing data at 4X. The CloneDVD sheep looks like it is writing in slow motion and it looks like it is going to take about twice as long as it used to. Is there any reason behing this? Thanks |

Get the program DVDDecrypter and put a blank disc in your drive. Set mode to read. Copy and paste all the info here so I can see what kind of dye your using.

Ok, I suspect that you might be having media problems. Because Ive heard of many hit and miss problems with GO5 dye. Although GO4 and GO3 dye has been excellent for me and others the GO5 has been questionable. Try some other media and see if that works out for ya.

I used the imations I was using before and it took just as long. Could it be the updated firmware, dma settings, etc.... Anything I should be looking for would be appreciated. Well I cant say for sure. I do know that with Sony when I owned a DRU-500A burner they only supported certain types of media. You may have to visit their site to see what they support and try that.

Thanks for all of your help, but what it ended up being was when I upgraded the firmware, my secondary IDE channel 0 was on PIO mode. I couldn't get it to switch so I installed a little older firmware and the reisntalled byo2 firmware and I could swith the setting back to DMA mode. I no longer get the slow motion sheep writing and a disc writes in 4x in about 15 minutes with either the imation or ritek-ridata g05. I still have not had a chance to test the dvd to see if it skips around, but when I do, I'll be sure to report. |

I'm still having the issues of stuttering on multiple stand alone dvd players and a computer with a dvd player. It is happening in the same spot in the movie on each player. Could this have anything to do with the way the image was captured with CloneDVD or the quality of the original DVD?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

I should also mention I have always burned to an ISO. Is it better to burn straight from one dvd drive to the burner or doesn't that matter?

The ISO issue shouldnt matter. I am starting to think that you may have a bad original. Is it scratched anywhere on the disc? Look closely. Or do all your movies have the same problems around the same time in the movie?
