Would it be possible to burn a 900mb game on two cd-r's?

Almost certainly NO. The game would complain for sure (and probably refuse to work). The single-disc games (99% of all DC games) aren't designed to prompt for second disc and will almost certainly lockup if they encounter a "missing-file" situation.
