PS2 Slimline - Ugly as Overheats BAD!

Well as far as I am concerned I am going to stick with the previous Model. This new model has caused nothing but nightmares for the guy that has modchipped my PS2 (previous model) and XBox; he now will NOT modchip the new Slimline at all (unless his arm is twisted to braking point) and has now got in a huge backup of the previous Model, because some he modchipped were being returned as soon as the next day; to which the customers blamed his modchip for the failure - stuffed, so to speak 100% from overheating. Here in Australia they are failing "big time" due to severe overheating - about 2 out of every 5 thus far. So in my view Sony have not given much thought for countries which have a hot climate during the summer months.

Perhaps Sony can bring out a portable "minature airconditioner/fan" to cool it!!!

Its the truth tho, they are just crap in my opinion, some people like their looks.. Just I dont Everyones allowed their own opinion.

Anyway.. They have done wat they did to the psx, made ps1 (small one) all to make more money for the cosmetic suckers (people who want wat looks best, not wat is best)...

If your getting a ps2 get a v7, people sell them for like £40 now.. I got one 3days ago for £25 with 1game, 1 controller and all leads. Sold it for £80 to a mate, lol..

Their cheap and their the best version, and support Hard drives

Carol, where abouts are you in Australia? I'm in North Queensland and it gets damn hot here and my PStwo is still working great after 2 months. I just finished San Andreas the other day and that game gives the PS2 hell with it's constant streaming.

Is your ps2 chipped?

Oh maybe buy a small USB fan and set that up to blow into vents, powered by ps2.

Yeh... Here

USB/HDD o2 Loader is a utility that makes it possible to load and run applications from both a USB HDD and PenDrive- even on the new PSTwo console, and it emulates up to 2GB of files using USBD.IRX from NAPLink. Other features include:
launch an ELF from HDD (uses O2_BOOT partition created automatically)
launch an ELF from USB (from /boot/ directory in one PenDrive or HDD)
launch an ELF from HDD with CDROM emulation from a directory selected in HDD or PenDrive
launch an ELF from USB or HDD with CDROM emulation from an iSO file in a PenDrive
launch an application from an iSO file in PenDrive (for example: ExecFTPs)
press UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, A, B, C, START at the Sonic screen and you will see something special
press SELECT over an ELF file and you can configure the KEYWORD for the auto-launch option. For example, if you select in OS all options for auto-launch to L2, you can launch the application from HDD or PenDrive in OSDSYS when you put in a CD/DVD with Divx, MP3, ROMs, etc.
This application can work with USB, HDD, or USB+HDD support. It depends on the modules loaded with this console, and it does not need script files to install the applications... simply put the files to launch (ELFs) in the O2_BOOT partition or /BOOT/ directory in the USB device

Just an update on this "horror model". My good friend bought her son one for xmas. 2 days ago "stuffed", due to overheating. Not even last a month. Man, Sony going to have to scratch their heads a bit more over this "lemon" in my view.
