a few DC sites bite the dust......

man....... some helpful DC sites got wiped out because the free hosts were ending their free hosting. which sux badly. the sites were mostly sites with tools, guides and infos. here are some,

Xeal's site - home of bin2boot, plus patches and guides.

Darlfalz sorttxt project - home of sorttxt.txt files for dc.

CDIRIP - home of cdirip, tool for Dc.

we are slowly losing sites left and right. so if i were into the DC scene, i would download as many tools, guides, etc. as possible and back them up to a cd or something. just in case.....

luckily, megagames.com is here.

I'm not so much worried about megagames.com really - it's too big and massive of a site to just up and vanish... (though a backup isn't a bad idea)

as for Xeal and DeXT (can't speak for Darkfalz here), their sites were nothing more than free personal homepages... and surely they care enough to make sure their stuff stays online - it was the webspace providers who took the pages down because of changes in their service/billing, something like that. I must assume that Xeal and DeXT just haven't realized yet that their pages are gone... Maybe someone knows how/where to contact them and let them know?

Hey

Anyway, sorts are pretty much dried up. Tools are still there and still useful.

Hi Darkfalz.
I emailed you a while back about sorttxts but didn't get a response. I have several to send to you, but I wanted to know about using them. Using sorts just doesn't work for me. A friend of mine has tried and gets the same results I do... nada.

Is there a certain version of Mkisofs that you need to use?
Is it the operating system that screws it up? (I use Win98SE)

I've tried using mkisofs 1.11, 1.12, 1.14, 1.15, and 2.0. None of them sort at all for me except 1.11 or 1.12 (can't remember which) and it doesn't sort properly, it just sorts randomly.

If you still want to send me those sorts that would be great (email is on my homepage). It's possible I didn't get your email because the Hotmail spam filter is pretty agressive - I have switched to gmail anyway.

Using them is case sensitive on the command line (in terms of where your data is contained and specified in the sort), plus are you using the proper sort format rather than FileList.txt format?

Quite a few things could go wrong...

If you guys can both email me your sorts to darkfalz.usenet********com then I'll put them up on my site (I still host all the files).

The Console Gaming World @ MegaGames will never die closed, but it is currently outdated as hell (mainly because of lack of time, something that has returned

Boy, is my face red.
I thought I had tried everything, but it never crossed my mind that "data/" in the sort would be case sensitive! Now it works. Too bad I already put a lot of my rips on black CDRs without sorting them.
Thanks for that info Darkfalz. I've asked that question about sorts several times before, but you're the first to respond.
I'll send you a mess of sorts as soon as I decide to give my other PC a break, (it's doing a lot of ripping right now).

Later,
-Ex
