I have a CHD500 Classic XP3 Player. I dropped it and it messed up the hard drive. Well, I got a new hard drive on ebay, same model and everything. A repair place formatted the drive to FAT32 file system(sp?) and put the newest firmware on the drive. I hooked it up and it wouldn't run. Did I format it wrong or is there something else I need to do to make the mp3 player run? Thanks!

I don't beleieve it is using the fat32 file system or any it would take to long to manually try them all. But once you replace the harddrive, shouldn't matter if it is the same model or not (should be able to use any laptop harddrive, even a bigger one), but once it is installed in the player you should recieve the media error, at that point you need to have the software "music explorer" installed and then connect the player to the pc, open media player, on the left hand side window you should see "musical player" click the plus to the left and then right click on internal storage, at this point you should see "initalize storage". Click on "intalize storage" and bang you should be back in business!
let me know if it helped |
