Software compatiblity question?

ok...i'm a newbie here trying to feel my way around. I have a couple of ?'s about software...

first off, is it ok to have multiple programs installed on my comp. at the same time? right now i have RecordNowMax, DVD Shrink and will probably put Nero on today...but i was also thinking of trying some other software down the road, to see what i like best...but i was wondering, is there some kind of compatibility question with multiple software?

also, is Nero gonna be all i need to burn backup movie DVD's (using Shrink to rip & compress) or do i need another program like Clone or DVDXCopy?

I have no problems with multiple programs on my PC. I currently use RNM (mainly), CloneDVD2, DiscJuggler (just in case I need to make an unbroken ISO), Ulead DVD Movie factory (for my home movie projects), and Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 (for photo slideshows and other various projects).

Just pic and choose what you think youll need and stick with that.
