.dat file question

i have a question. i'm trying to play sam n max hit the road. i already have the game...my only problem is the sound doesn't work. i found a file on gamecopyworld.com that i think will fix this problem. here's a link pertaining to the file and the directions for how to use it: http://spacetarget.com/games/pc_sam_...Road%20v1.0%20[ENGLISH]%20CD%20PlayFix%20with%20Speech

i dont understand the instructions. particularly...how does one "apply FILEDIR.DAT"

if anyone can help me out with understanding the instructions and what im supposed to do with the file thatd be great. thanks.

apply simply means 'copy into the directory of the game, overwriting the original file'.

its always a good idea to backup any files that get replaced.

Nay, "apply X" means "apply the patch that is included in the file called X". This is clearly described in the extra paragraph at the bottom. Good luck!

Joe, the author of the patch

P.S.: Ohhh, and applying ORIGINAL.DAT restores the main executable so don't worry if you haven't made a backup...
