Yes. The gold edition has all the updates and includes the Play The World expansion. I tried using all exisiting patches for both PTW and Civ 3 but nothing works correctly.

*Bump*
Here's what I know... Civ3 Gold has both Civ3 and the Play the World expansion. The shortcut launches Play the World. However, the .exe has been modified. It displays a Civ3 Gold menu instead of the standard Play the World title screen. The version of the Gold Edition is 1.27f. Now, if you use the no-cd from Gamefix for Play the World v1.27f, it SEEMS to work, but it has the old title screen. I've yet to actually test it. But...I'm always uneasy using differing versions, so I'd love to see the Gold Edition cracked. The info I have... 1) Gold Edition is protected by SafeDisc 2.90.040 2) Gold Edition shortcut launches the expansion, Play the World. More accuratly, it launches civilization3x.exe 3) The file civilization3x.exe appears to be modified in the Gold Edition...and THIS is the .exe that needs cracking 4) Simply using a cracked civilization3x.exe from Play the World cracks MAY work, but the title screen is completely different. So...if someone could crack the Gold Edition, or point me to a program that unwraps SafeDisc 2.90.040, I'd be appreciative... Thanks... -Nate |
