Silver ps2 Question
I have a 'silver' ps2 and am having it chipped using a dms3 chip ... i already have my other done and works a treat.
Now here lies the problem...when the chip is fitted the ps2 will play multi-region dvd's but will not play 'back-up' games. It will play originals ok ...i have had tried quite a few different chips in it messiah and the such but all with the same result. Any ideas?? The silver is a 50000 version and is only a few months old so i don't know whether sony have made modifications to the newer models to try to prevent chipping?? Any info will be much obliged |

Are you using compatible chips for the v9/v10? The Messiah 2 would need to be a 1.31 or 1.33b.

Yeah the chip is compatable for all versions...but i think your on the right track....think the motherboard is a version9 or 10 and apparently the chip has to be fitted differently..ie different solder points.
I want to use the dms3 chip cos i am wll impressed with the other ps2 of mine. Just got the diagrams for the v9 & v10 boards so will have to investigate further. Thanx for the tip though Much obliged |

DMS3 is not compatible with all versions. There is a v1-v8 chip and a v9/v10 chip.
