clone dvd not working right?

when using clone dvd the first screen (after choosing to backup the entire movie with menus, spec features etc) shows you how much compression will be put on the movie to make it fit onto one dvd-5. well seeing that a lot of dvd's are dvd9 the compression is shown to be around 48-55% which you would think is bad but the movie still turns out pretty clear. anyways...even if i choose to take out certain audio streams and or languages...clone dvd still shows the same amount of compression needed. this doesnt make sence cause if you take features out, there should be less compression needed for the dvdr. So anyways, is clone dvd just not refreshing the info (me disableing certain languages/audio streams) or is the same compression really needed still? can anyone help me out on this one...?

Im thinkin because audio tracks and subtitles only account for less than 100mb on average. Its really not much when the percentage is so much larger (8gigs). I personally remove all previews and any other junk I dont watch anyways.

Disney is a big user of previews. In some cases when you take all those out of a Disney video you may almost make enough room for the entire movie with extras and menus.
