Fan not working, problem with MB?

Ok, i have this v4 ps2 im trying to repair, when i first got it the fan cords were ripped, so i soldered them back together thinkin that would do the trick but it still didnt work. So i ripped the connector off the motherboard and the connector off the fan, and touched the wires to the contacts on the MB, no go. So im thinkin it has to be a problem with the fan contact on the MB. Is there a fuse of some sort for the fan? If all else fails i assume i can just buy a usb fan for it. Is there really a risk of damaging the ps2 without the fan? I know there prolly is, but it needs a laser readjustment, i was wondering if i could go ahead and do that without the fan working?

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks

If you can find some old neo2.2 diagrams you can find the neo2.2's power supply. Use that same power supply for your fans power and then just use any ground.

yea u can damage the motherboard because it will tend to overheat like if you didnt have a fan on your cpu it would overheat and maybe blow up same as a ps2 fuses would die resistors capacitors god know's what can happen take td advice solder the power point in and get ur fan goin i would also advise gettin one of them fans just in case better to be safe than sorry

Sorry bud, I never messed with lasers. I would just buy a new ps2 every time I felt I needed one.
