PSX/PS2 4plyr adapter

Is there any 4 player adapter that works for both systems? Sony says no, and while I did find one made by Pelican that bragged it worked all all three (PSX, PS1, PS2) all it managed to do is fry my memory card slot's power on my PSX.

Luckily my PS2 is fine.
I know, buy the Magic MOD and just get a 4plyr for the PS2, but no place near by that I know of will install one. Though, a Sony Service Center is just around the corner, I doubt they'd be helpful.

i have one here that was made by sony and i can confirm, it does not work. i have never heard of one that does but i will buy one if you find one that works. let me know if do. thanks

I'm not even gonna try testing anymore out. I'm not even sure if I can get my PSX repaired since the legality of a MOD chip (which it has) is kinda grey area and nearest place is that Sony repair. They'll probually blame the chip so they can try to remove it.

It has something to do with the PS2's Dual Shock 2 controller thats not compatible with other game/hardware. I heard about this years ago. You cant even play some ps2 games with a ps1 controller with or without the 4 controller adapter.

I was told they were backward compatible. At any rate, trying to use the 4 player adapter from Pelican fried out both memory slots and not just the one it was plugged into.
Anyone in the Philly area, that knows a place that'll install a MOD chip on PS2?

I went to the Sony Service station to ask for a price to fix the PSX... the answer I got... $149.99
They dont do estimates, it's a completely flat rate of that much.

Dude, if hes talking about the PSX meaning the psone. Then he could buy one plus half of another brand new.

If he was actually meaning ps2 then yeah still, I woulda just spit in his face.

It was an old woman. The service station looks more like a factory warehouse than anything else. a little window with her behind a the desk and further back just rows of boxes.

I'd have little problem just buying a new one, or simply buy a MOD chip for PS2, but I can't solder worth a damn. I'll have to ask around in the Gamestop stores, find a connection somewhere that can solder. I'm hesitant to ask them though, just how legal are these in the U.S. now?

Chipping your ps2 isnt breaking any rules but I would check with a real lawyer for any technical questions.

You are allowed to have 1 backup of just about any disc you own. Once your original disc is sold or thrown away you must destroy your backup as well. You cant even sell your backup with your original.
