A couple soldering questions.

Ok, im gettin the dms 3 for my v7 ps2, got a few ?.

Ive never soldered before, do i press the solder against the tip and let the solder melt onto the point im soldering, or is there another way i should do it?

Also, does the chip come with the wires or do i need to buy my own, if the later, which type wires will i need to buy to go with the chip.

Also, someone told me that there is a dms3 that comes with a clip reducing the number of wires to be soldered, but i have looked and never seen the dms3 v2.0 with a clip. 20 something wires is a lot to solder, thats why i was considering the magic 3.6 with a clip so i wouldnt have to solder as much, but i know the dms is better so im gonna go with that hopefully.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out with these ?, it really will help me out alot. Thanks!!!

If you have never soldered before, now is not the time to try. You will trash your ps2. Get a pro to do it. www.freedomlives.com is one place that will do it for ya.

I dont know, if i was going to pay to get it done, i can get it done locally for 75. But thats a bit steep. I mean, i went and bought a soldering iron, i think im just going to practice for a week or two before i do it. What do you think about that?

Also, i have been readin up some how to's on the net, and i think im gettin the hang of soldering, i should be pretty good at it in a few days, hopefully.
Also, i found out they come with wires, but can someone still answer my question about the dms3 v2.0 and whether or not you can buy a clip for it. Because i might just go ahead and buy the magic 3.6 with a clip if i cant find a dms with a clip, since there are significantly less wires to solder. Thanks for the help.

I am leaning towards doin it myself. But the clip kit for the dms is another 25 on top of 65 for the chip. Should i dish out the extra cash or settle for a magic 3.6 with a clip for 49? Thanks again for the help.

No, do not get a clip for the DMS3 or a Magic 3.6. If you are worried about the number of wires to solder get a Duo chip. Only 17 wires.
